In the context that the Constituent Assembly promulgated the much awaited new Constitution of Nepal in 2015 after a decade long conflict, struggles, disputes and exercises, it was felt imperative to discuss on the issues of women incorporated in the constitution with focus to the youth women and also to discuss the other policy, legal and international instruments addressing the issues of the youth women. HDAF, therefore, organized the workshop on the Constitution of Nepal, Rights of Youth Women and Legal Provisions, in the different five places on regional level: Morang, Banke, Kailali, Kaski, Kathmandu. The participants were mainly the youth women. Further, a national level workshop was also organized and the law makers, lawyers and youths were invited in the workshop.
National Level workshop
The national level workshop was held on February 13, 2017(Falgun 2, 2073) in Alpha house, Buddanagar, Kathmandu. There was the participation of 93 personalities including legislative parliament members, lawyers, journalists etc.
In the program Ms. Dhan Kumari Sunar, the former member of the Women Commission, Nepal, who facilitated to the participants of all regional workshops, presented the discussion, outcomes and suggestions of the regional workshops.
Speaking in the program, Hon’ble Mr. Rameshwor Phuyal, Hon’ble Ms. Garima Shah, Hon’ble Mr. Guru Burlakoti, Hon’ble Ms. Teku Nepali, Rachana Khadka, Hon’ble Ms Rita Shahi, Mr. Madhab Dhungel, Vice-chairperson of National Youth Council, Mr. Laxman Thapaliya, Chairperson of Kathmandu District Court Bar etc , highlighted the need of change social and cultural changes from the household level for translation of constitutional provision of proportional inclusion of women.
